Provides an empowerment-based model for relative caregivers in Albany, Schenectady, and Rensselaer Counties. Services include basic needs assessment, community-based support groups, casework counseling, and referral and linkage to community-based services. Parenting, educational and skill-building opportunities are offered periodically. This agency offers support, knowledge and empowerment designed to supplement caregivers’ circle of friends and family, so they can be successful in the parenting role.

Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York to provide funding for the Children’s Law Project whereby more than fifty low-income children with disabilities will receive free direct legal services and 100 parents, children or human services agencies staff will receive legal education on the rights of children with disabilities. Kinship laws, custody, Grandparent’s Rights, education law. No age eligibility, income eligibility varies from program to program.
