The Kinship Caregiving Program offers support and guidance for non-parent caregivers (such as grandparents, aunts, and older siblings) who have stepped in to serve as surrogate parents when a biological parent is unable to raise their child. The goal in helping these families is to create a sense of belonging within the community, thus improving family relationships, stabilizing the home, and improving youth educational outcomes.
Program services are offered for the tri-county area of Columbia, Greene and Schoharie Counties and are administered by Catholic Charities of Columbia and Greene Counties in collaboration with Catholic Charities of Schoharie County.
